Medication Response Measurement

Many individuals and family members are curious about response to medication treatment.  When indicated, we will work in collaboration with Board certified physicians to assist in evaluating an individual’s response to prescription medication for ADHD.

Using psychological tests that are sensitive to stimulant medication effects combined with behavioral rating scales of symptoms, we can measure an individual’s symptoms and cognitive functioning.  This can occur before and after an initial dose is administered and throughout a trial of medicine.  Data may be used to assist families and physicians in deciding whether to continue a trial of medication and/or to make dosage adjustments during ongoing treatment.

Results of psychological tests and behavioral ratings can also be helpful for individuals and family members in understanding the role medication may play in cognitive, behavioral, and emotional functioning.
